This new publication from Drug Strategies assesses the most widely used school violence prevention programs in the country. It provides practical assistance in developing strategies to prevent youth violence, which is often related to substance abuse.

Educators for Social Responsibility helps educators create safe, caring, respectful, and productive learning environments. Their newest resource, Teaching Young Children in Violent Times, helps teachers create a classroom where children learn alternatives to violent behaviors. This revised edition features new material for a post-September 11th world, including a new chapter on helping children deal with violence in the news.

Prevent Child Abuse America presents kids' newest ally against bullying and teasing: The Amazing Spider-Man on Bullying Prevention. The Amazing Spider-Man and The Brace, the new villain in town, discover that they share a past as victims of the same school bullies. They come to understand that a witness who spoke out against Spider-Man's humiliation helped set the future superhero on a path of helping others, while The Brace, who had no ally, became a bully himself.

This easy-to-read guide includes three folders, each containing a section on What You Should Know and What You Can Do. TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
The Fontana Police Department is offering a "School Resource Officer Basic Course." Current SRO's and professionals working within the School District and District Attorney's Office will lead this law-enforcement-only training. The training will be held in Fontana, CA. on June 7th through the 11th from 8 am to 5 pm.

The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation is accepting concept grant applications from programs seeking to help young people with disabilities through the use of technology and multimedia. Nonprofit organizations are eligible to submit concept proposals by July 1.

The Public Welfare Foundation presents grants for youth leadership development, violence prevention, early intervention and education. These grants are designed to address needs in disadvantaged communities, with emphasis on organizations that include service, advocacy and empowerment.
