SCHOOL READINESS INFORMATION
How do we ensure our children are ready for school? Colorado embarked on a 2-year, 17-state project to determine a set of core
indicators that would provide a template for school readiness. The indicators were chosen with input from child and public health
professionals, mental health experts, early care and education providers, public school educators and administrators, business
representatives, community services organizations, and family representatives.

Focusing on preparing children to start school ready to succeed, First 5 of San Luis Obispo County has developed a school readiness
program with the help of educators, health and social services agencies, and parent involvement.
